Focus

This center treats substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Your treatment plan addresses each condition at once with personalized, compassionate care for comprehensive healing.

Southwood Interventions, a program of ABRAXAS Youth and Family Services, provides substance use treatment for adults in Chicago and nearby suburbs. Services include residential, detox, and outpatient care for individuals with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. Treatment uses evidence-based practices such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, and 12-Step involvement, delivered by a team of medical and behavioral health professionals. Residential programs include the Men’s Short Term, Women’s Short Term, and City Program. While each differs in structure and staffing, all focus on personalized care. Medically monitored detox is also available, with 24/7 supervision by physicians and nurses. Detox typically lasts up to five days and includes counseling and treatment planning to support the transition into the next phase of recovery. Southwood offers age and gender appropriate outpatient services for adults 18 and older who do not need residential care. These include standard and intensive outpatient programs, DUI evaluations, early intervention classes, and aftercare. Outpatient treatment supports recovery while allowing clients to live at home. Services are available throughout the Englewood community and across Chicago’s south side, providing flexible options to meet individual needs.
