AKUA Mind and Body is a treatment program that incorporates both traditional and Eastern medicine practices in gender-specific housing. The organization offers detox, residential treatment, and intensive outpatient programming (IOP). A typical stay including detox is 30 days. AKUA Terra Loma is their women’s only detox and residential treatment program. During treatment, AKUA addresses co-occurring mental health conditions as well as addiction. Clients participate in both group and individual therapy as well as life coaching. Therapies can include mindfulness, meditation, life skills, yoga, music therapy, sound therapy, Tai Chi, relapse prevention, and nutrition. Aftercare is extremely important to AKUA, and they offer an aftercare alumni program. Clients receive consistent aftercare that can include weekly alumni meetings, social events, and access to an alumni app.
