Focus

This center primarily treats substance use disorders, helping you stabilize, create relapse-prevention plans, and connect to compassionate support.

Bakersfield Recovery Services provides comprehensive addiction treatment throughout several gender-specific residential locations and outpatient programs. Capistrano Community for women provides individually tailored treatment deeply rooted in the 12-Step recovery program with a strong emphasis on family values, accommodating women in recovery and their children. Clients at Capistrano Community live in a safe and structured drug and alcohol-free environment, in a large secluded home-like setting with access to amenities such as a large fenced in back yard, play areas for children, a self-sufficient communal kitchen, fireplace, patio, and laundry room. Their program uses a social model approach with an emphasis on creating accountability, individual responsibility, and the importance of structure with clients responsible for contributing to house-hold chores. Residents also contribute to menu planning, food purchase and preparation, and other tasks related to home economics. Daily schedules consist of attending daily classes and groups 4 days per week from 7:00am-4:00pm, with classes and counseling offices centrally located. Topics covered in groups may include drug and alcohol addiction education, domestic violence, healthy relationships, process groups, parenting classes, coping skills, anger management, self-esteem, communication skills, relapse prevention, 12-Step recovery, and life skills training. Their program focuses on the first 4 steps of the 12-Step recovery program, and involves daily meeting attendance and work with a sponsor. Transportation services are provided for all medical appointments and counseling, parole or probation meetings, 12 Step events, schooling, and child visits. Recreational activities and outings may consist of trips to the beach, amusement parks, theater, sporting events, and local festivals. Regular and randomized testing for the presence of drugs or alcohol is a requirement of their abstinence-based program, which includes outpatient treatment and single-family homes near the facility, used to provide sober living arrangements. With an emphasis on strong family values and reunification, Bakersfield is dedicated to keeping clients connected to family with various family involvement throughout the treatment process. Women in the Capistrano Community are given the option to have their children live with them while in treatment, including CPS and overnight visits when applicable. Clients receive regular visits from spouses, sponsors, family members, and close friends up to 2 times per week in addition to once weekly family nights after their first 10 days in treatment. Transportation is provided for clients with CPS appointments, parenting classes, visits with children, and any other necessary appointments required to reunify or keep families together. Family night intends to familiarize families with recovery principles and offers addiction education in an effort to help family members best support their loved one. Phone privileges are allowed between certain evening hours on a daily basis. Clients attending the program for longer than 45 days may leave the facility with an escort once per week if permitted by their individual counselor, and can eventually earn weekend passes to be off campus unsupervised for 6-30 hours at a time. Depending on individual circumstances and personal recovery plans, clients are in residential care with Bakersfield Recovery programs from 6 weeks-4 months on average.
