About Behavioral Health Services of Racine County
Providing outpatient mental health and substance use services, BHS ensures that individuals receive the support they need to achieve mental and emotional well-being. Licensed mental health and substance use counselors assist individuals through evaluations, psychotherapy, and counseling. BHS offers brief screenings, an OWI Driver Program, and CCS Program.
Specialized services are also available for individuals with serious mental illnesses, such as psychotic disorders, which may not be accessible in the private sector. The cost of services is determined on a sliding scale based on an individual's ability to pay, ensuring that financial constraints do not become a barrier to receiving care.
Mental health is a critical component of overall wellness, so BHS provides anonymous and confidential brief screenings to help one determine if they would benefit from professional services. Following the screening, individuals will see their results, recommendations, and key resources.
Racine County residents convicted of Operating While Intoxicated must schedule and complete an OWI assessment within 72 hours of conviction. Call BHS of Racine County any time between 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, to schedule an assessment. After the assessment, the individual receives a Driver Safety Plan to help reduce drinking and driving behavior.
For Kenosha or Racine residents with a mental health or substance use diagnosis and eligible for Medicaid or BadgerCare, the Kenosha Racine Regional Consortium Comprehensive Community Services, or CCS, provides community-based, psychosocial services. CCS uses a person-centered approach to build on individual strengths and help people in their recovery journeys.
