About Crossroads Greater Portland Counseling Center

Located in Scarborough at the junction of Route 1 and Highway 701, Crossroads Greater Portland Counseling Center offers outpatient treatment for substance use concerns and eating disorders, with intensive outpatient programs (IOP) and day treatment exclusive to women as well as outpatient counseling and education groups for women, men, and their families. Bus Line 1 stops about half a mile away, providing access for clients traveling via public transportation and parking is available at the building. Crossroads offers assistance for transportation and childcare needs. Founded in 1974, Crossroads offers over 50 years of experience treating substance use and eating disorders.
Crossroads offers separate day treatment and intensive outpatient programs (IOPs) for women with substance use and eating disorders. Women in the eating disorder IOP meet for group counseling implementing cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) led by masters-level clinicians. They also participate in medical nutrition therapy led by dieticians and share meals with other participants, reviewed by dieticians. This program meets Monday through Friday for 3 hours each day. Day treatment offers a more intensive level of care, meeting for 6 hours per day Monday through Friday.
The women’s substance use IOP offers individual sessions and group therapy including early recovery, relapse prevention, family education, social support, and 12-Step groups. This program meets 3-5 days per week for 3 hours per day. Day treatment meets 6 hours per day, 5 days per week, with women in the substance use and eating disorder groups meeting separately for half the day and together for the other half.
Crossroads offers additional individual, couples, family, and group counseling for men and women with substance use and eating disorders, helping clients with personal struggles and interpersonal relationships. They also offer a driver education and evaluation program (DEEP) for individuals who have received charges for driving under the influence.
