Cumberland Heights employs evidence-based practices to maximize effectiveness, including
cognitive behavioral therapy (

MAT), and 12-step facilitation. They also provide experiential therapies for a well-rounded approach, including adventure therapy, art therapy, relapse prevention, music therapy, recreational therapy, mindfulness and meditation, spiritual care, and yoga. Telehealth services are also available.
Cumberland Heights is the first treatment center in Tennessee to be certified by the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM), and is recognized as a national leader in addiction treatment. They are also accredited by the Joint Commission. They are in-network with most major insurance plans, and offer competitive self-pay rates, ensuring that care is more accessible. The Hermitage location offers
intensive outpatient treatment on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9 AM to noon and from 6 to 9 p.m., and an alumni aftercare group on Mondays from 6 to 9 p.m. Additionally, the family program is offered on Thursdays from 9 AM to noon and Friday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m.
Evidence-Based Context: According to SAMHSA's National Survey on Drug Use and Health (2023), approximately 48.7 million Americans aged 12 or older had a substance use disorder in the past year. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) emphasizes that treatment programs combining behavioral therapy with medication-assisted approaches show the highest rates of sustained recovery. Facilities like Cumberland Heights Hermitage provide structured pathways to evidence-based care.
