About Freedom House

Freedom House is a 9-12 month long-term residential program for women in Greensboro, North Carolina. This Christian-based program offers a faith-based approach to addiction treatment, incorporating the 12-Steps, nutrition counseling, life skills training, vocational training, and family counseling in their treatment program. The program specifically caters to women with children, allowing a mother to bring up to 2 children under the age of 11 to live with her. Residents are expected to meet with their counselors, follow their nutrition plan, adhere to the daily schedule, and attend their employment training program while participating in the program. There are 3 houses that can house up to 6 women each across the Greensboro area. Freedom House is a free program, with the exception of a small application fee.

Evidence-Based Context: According to SAMHSA's National Survey on Drug Use and Health (2023), approximately 48.7 million Americans aged 12 or older had a substance use disorder in the past year. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) emphasizes that treatment programs combining behavioral therapy with medication-assisted approaches show the highest rates of sustained recovery. Facilities like Freedom House provide structured pathways to evidence-based care. Sources: SAMHSA NSDUH 2023, NIDA Principles of Drug Addiction Treatment (4th Ed.)
