Newport Academy’s North Carolina locations treat teens 12-18 in gender specific homes. They strive to treat teens as a whole, addressing their mind, body, and spirit throughout recovery. Newport Academy treats mental health conditions and/or substance use. They involve family for wide-spread recovery and provide on-site academic support. Patients begin treatment with an assessment to properly gauge their needs and treatment requirements. From there, a personalized care team that includes counselors, nurses, a psychiatrist, and dietician continue to meet the needs of each teen. Newport Academy uses attachment-based family therapy (ABFT) to help rebuild familial relationships. Individual and group therapy connect patients to themselves and their peers, building a support network that Newport also extends to families. Newport Academy creates individualized treatment plans that include music and art therapy, yoga, meditation, adventure therapy, and various evidence-based therapies. Teens attend group and individual therapy, outdoor group activities, and equine-assisted therapy. They additionally provide outpatient programming and day schools for those needing more flexibility.
