Focus
This center treats mental health conditions and co-occurring substance use. You receive collaborative, individualized treatment that addresses both issues for whole-person healing.
The North Slope Borough's Behavioral Health Division offers care for individuals and families experiencing mental health challenges, with a focus on youth under 18. The Children & Youth Services (CYS) program operates a 14-bed emergency shelter. Mental health professionals are on site and available to young people and their families 24 hours a day, ensuring immediate support is always accessible to those in need. Care is centered on providing quality behavioral health services in a supportive, state-licensed facility. This setting gives young people a safe place to receive emergency shelter and professional care. Trained mental health staff work directly with youth and their families to address their immediate needs, offering guidance and assistance within a structured and safe environment. The department also works to improve the health of the entire community. It partners with tribes, cities, schools, and businesses to support a strong local culture. This collaborative effort encourages all residents and families to choose healthy lifestyles, helping to sustain a vibrant and economically stable community across the North Slope.
