Tasks Unlimited is an
outpatient and community-based recovery program that helps adults with serious and persistent mental illness live full, independent lives. The organization offers supported employment, mental health services, and
sober living homes in the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Programs are designed to support those managing depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and co-occurring addiction. By combining work, housing, and therapy, Tasks Unlimited fosters a supportive environment where recovery and personal growth can thrive.
Inspired by the Fairweather Model approach that blends supportive housing, employment, and peer accountability, Tasks Unlimited uses structure, community, and purpose to promote recovery. Evidence-based services like individual therapy, case management, and medication support are combined with wellness programs, job training, and substance use recovery support. Patients gain tools for lasting recovery and are empowered to take control of their future through meaningful work and connection.
Residents live in affordable, shared homes located in safe, welcoming neighborhoods. Each lodge runs cooperatively, with shared responsibilities such as cooking, cleaning, and household upkeep. Daily life includes access to wellness groups, outdoor activities like biking and hiking, and help with transportation. Recreational outings and vacation opportunities further encourage balance, motivation, and joy in everyday living.
Evidence-Based Context: According to SAMHSA's National Survey on Drug Use and Health (2023), approximately 48.7 million Americans aged 12 or older had a substance use disorder in the past year. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) emphasizes that treatment programs combining behavioral therapy with medication-assisted approaches show the highest rates of sustained recovery. Facilities like Tasks Unlimited provide structured pathways to evidence-based care.
