Focus

This center treats substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health conditions. Your treatment plan addresses each condition at once with personalized, compassionate care for comprehensive healing.

Part of the Turning Point Australia Network, Wellington House offers extended withdrawal support for substance use and co-occurring mental health concerns in a residential setting. Wellington House serves primarily as a transition from Turning Point’s more medically oriented detox unit in Box Hill Hospital to independent living. Clients using public transportation can travel by bus via the 302 City, 202 East Kew, and 612 Box Hill lines, by train via the Belgrave/Lilydale line, which stops 5-10 minutes away, and by tram via service number 109, with a 5 minute walk to Wellington House. Clients and guests must have an appointment and should enter via walkway on the left side of the building and use the bell. Wellington House offers wheelchair accessibility including wheelchair accessible toilets. Turning Point Australia is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and provides free care for Australian residents. Wellington House offers treatment for substances such as alcohol, opioids, synthetic drugs, methamphetamine, and illicit benzodiazepines. In addition to withdrawal support, Wellington house offers group psychotherapy, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), discharge planning, and interpersonal skills training. Participants engage in morning house meetings each day, mutual aid sessions, life skills training, including cooking and personal finance, art therapy and physical activities. Clients can stay at Wellington House for up to four weeks.
