Located in the mountainous countryside of Wellsville, Utah, Uinta Academy offers
residential treatment to adolescents and young adults with trauma and mental health challenges. The comprehensive program includes evidence-based therapies, an academic program, recreation therapy, equine therapy, and a variety of arts programs for students to get involved in. The therapeutic program involves individual, group, and
family therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT),
cognitive behavioral therapy (
CBT), psychoeducation, and eye movement therapy (EMDR). The team at Uinta Academy is made up of licensed therapists, a psychiatrist, a registered nurse, and certified teachers.
The student experience at Uinta Academy is broad, giving students a variety of opportunities to engage in hobbies and recreational activities. There are multiple clubs focused on activities like photography, dance, sports, literature, and more. ARt is also incorporated into the program, giving students the opportunities to explore mediums like drawing, painting, theater, and music. Uinta Academy schedules regular adventure outings that include rafting, hiking, swimming, and ropes courses. The campus is spread out among 4 separate houses, allowing students to connect with a smaller group of peers.
