Walden Center for Recovery is a well-established treatment center that has helped over 25,000 individuals and their families. Their brand-new, cutting-edge facility is situated in Dedham, Massachusetts, 20 miles south of Boston. Their 82-bed inpatient program is open to youths 11 years and older and adults of all genders who have been diagnosed with any type of eating disorder. Walden's inclusive program comes equipped with experienced staff members who take into account the individual's unique circumstances by providing tailored, evidenced-based treatment plans. Walden has many customized programs, including specialty virtual tracks for the LGBTQIA+ community, competitive athletes, clients with binge eating disorders, and the Jewish community with a B'SHALOM program. Each program focuses on the direct need of each person and their family.
Walden’s residential program ensures 1-on-1 treatment. Patients are encouraged to cook and prepare their own meals while receiving help from compassionate staff members, mental health counselors, nurses, nutritionists, and psychologists. The program is meant to simulate real-life experiences and clients will have the opportunity to engage in “real-life” outings, like grocery shopping and dining out. Walden's facility includes a single room with abundant natural light, as well as a teaching kitchen, a full culinary staff, and special areas for music and art therapy.
As a Monte Nido Affiliate, Walden Center for Recovery has numerous facilities throughout Georgia, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. Dedham is home to their Massachusetts residential facility, but they also offer intensive
outpatient treatment (
IOP) and virtual outpatient aftercare in most locations. Notably, Walden Center for Recovery accepts most private insurance and works with out of network insurance as well.
Evidence-Based Context: According to SAMHSA's National Survey on Drug Use and Health (2023), approximately 48.7 million Americans aged 12 or older had a substance use disorder in the past year. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) emphasizes that treatment programs combining behavioral therapy with medication-assisted approaches show the highest rates of sustained recovery. Facilities like Walden Dedham provide structured pathways to evidence-based care.
