Young People in Recovery (YPR) is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting young adults, ages 18-24, in achieving long-term recovery from substance use disorders. YPR focuses on empowering individuals through advocacy, education, and peer support, creating pathways to recovery that are accessible and tailored to the unique needs of young people. The organization strives to break the stigma surrounding addiction and recovery, fostering environments where individuals can thrive.
At the Merced Chapter of Young People in Recovery, we believe in creating a vibrant, supportive, and fun community for anyone on their recovery journey. Whether you’re in recovery, seeking recovery, or a supportive ally, you’ll find a welcoming space with us.
At the Merced Chapter, we love connecting through shared hobbies and activities that bring us joy. We host bi-weekly pro-social events that range from fun activities to meetups that help showcase the beauty of life in recovery. Whether it’s through art, outdoor adventures, or simply gathering together, these events are designed to build strong connections and show that recovery can be full of positivity. In addition, we offer weekly All Recovery Meetings, open to anyone in recovery or supporting someone on that path. No matter what recovery pathway you follow, you’ll find support, understanding, and community here.
What sets YPR apart is its focus on advocacy and building recovery-ready communities. By working with policymakers and stakeholders, YPR helps create systemic change to support individuals in recovery. This
holistic approach, combined with its emphasis on peer-driven care, makes YPR a transformative resource for young adults striving for recovery and a brighter future.
Evidence-Based Context: According to SAMHSA's National Survey on Drug Use and Health (2023), approximately 48.7 million Americans aged 12 or older had a substance use disorder in the past year. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) emphasizes that treatment programs combining behavioral therapy with medication-assisted approaches show the highest rates of sustained recovery. Facilities like Young People In Recovery-Merced provide structured pathways to evidence-based care.
