Outpatient means you attend scheduled sessions while living at home — intensity ranges from 9–20 hours per week (
IOP) down to a weekly hour-long check-in with a counselor (standard outpatient). Residential fits unstable home environments or severe withdrawal; outpatient fits stable support systems and ongoing work/family obligations.
